'The pure joy on [the] professor's face': University student finds a stray kitten en route to Calculus lecture, asks professor if they can bring the cat, he says yes and cuteness ensues

What's more impurrtant, another lecture on finding derivatives or playing with a cute kitten your student found on the way to your class? There is only one right answer, and it's obviously the kitten.

School is officially back in session, for better or for worse. If you're a parent, you're probably pretty relieved to not have to entertain your kids 24/7 while working full time. If you're a student, you're probably wishing you had at least a few more days of summer back before returning to yet another year of studies. If you're a university student, the biggest regret you have is leaving your parents' washing machine behind and going back to living in the dorm, where you have to actually clean up after yourself. C'est la vie.

But going back to school isn't all bad, especially if you live on a university campus with cool teachers, like our Calculus professor today! On the way to one of his lectures, a university student found a friendly orphaned orange kitten. Not wanting to leave the kitten alone, they asked their professor if they could bring the kitten to class, and he said yes! The video below shows all the cuteness that ensued, and we can guarantee you that nothing productive was done that day.

The Calculus students played with the kitten, but it was the professor who really found his joy. He pulled out his laser pointer, entertaining the cat while attempting to teach, but eventually, it all devolved into filming and enjoying the kitten to its fullest extent. I'm sure that whatever they were supposed to learn that day, be it standard deviations or integrals, could wait until next class.

The next day, some students took the cat to an animal shelter, where he was given a checkup, a bath, and prepurred for adoption.

He was adopted less than a week later.

No more kitten playdates during class, but hey, it was fun while it lasted, right?

Last year, I found this stray kitten while walking to my calculus class. I didn’t want to leave him alone, so I picked him up and brought him to my professor. I asked him if the kitty could join us for class. He said yes!! This was the result:
